Licensed Electronic Resources
Licensed Electronic Resources Outside the TU Dresden Campus
NEW: Access to over 30 databases, electronic journals and e-books subject to licensing is now possible for registered SLUB users from any location. You can find more information on this in the FAQs.
The SLUB provides databases, electronic journals and e-books subject to licensing in the IP address range of the SLUB and the TU Dresden. These online resources are accessible free of charge to all users in the institutions of the SLUB Dresden as well as to members of the TU Dresden within the campus network. The use of the e-resources is subject to copyright. Please also note the terms of use of the publishers and providers.
In addition, members of the TU Dresden have access to online services from outside the campus network, i.e. from home or from your workplace abroad. This can be done as follows (video in German):
Authentication via SLUB user account
Requirements
- You are in possession of a valid SLUB library card and
- You are a member of the TU Dresden.
Accessing the Data Network of the TU Dresden via VPN Client
To access the TU Dresden campus network from home or via a mobile device, you need to first install a specific client programm which will connect you to it via a VPN, e.g. Cisco AnyConnect or Open VPN. All types of internet connections are supported without issues. After the respective authentication in the VPN client, you are - from a net-technical perspective - a part of the data network of the TU Dresden. You can consequently access the online services of the SLUB and the TU Dresden and use them as you normally would inside the campus network. Questions regarding the VPN can be answered by the ZIH service desk.
Requirements
- A valid ZIH login
- Installation (and configuration) of a respective VPN client program
If you are having problems accessing the online resources of the SLUB via the VPN client, please first check the settings under "Group" in Cisco. Switch from A-Tunnel to "C-Tunnel-All-Networks". If this does not help, please alternatively try using the OpenVPN of the TUD.
Accessing Licensed Electronic Resources as a SLUB User
Off-campus access to some of our licensed based services is possible for all SLUB Dresden users with a valid user card. These databases can be recognised by the yellow icon with an E in the middle on the DBIS database website.
