Long-term archiving with PDF/A
In order for your scientific documents to meet the technical requirements for long-term digital archiving, they must be saved in PDF/A file format. The abbreviation "PDF/A" stands for Portable Document Format Archivable and was developed as a subtype of the regular PDF format specifically for the long-term archiving of documents.
Unlike a normal PDF, the PDF/A is ISO standardised. This ensures that the layout of electronic documents does not change, regardless of the devices and programmes used to create, store and reproduce the document. SLUB guarantees the long-term availability of documents if these technical standards are met. Here you will find an information overview around the creation of PDF/A-compliant files.
Transmission of non PDF/A-compliant files
After your files have been sent to the SLUB, they will be checked for archivability. If the files are not archivable, we will notify you and ask you to provide corrected, standard-compliant versions. If necessary, we will support you in the correct creation of the files.
