Digital Humanities to join in
Are you interested in digital research methods in the humanities and social sciences and would like to become active yourself? The SLUB TextLab offers you numerous opportunities to do so. Prior knowledge is not required.
The digital transcription and full indexing of handwritten texts offers an easy entry into the digital humanities. Whether you are a student, teacher or researcher: You come together in teamwork with like-minded people in the projects at the SLUB TextLab and can all contribute with your respective skills and interests.
Even if you have no experience in this field, we expressly welcome you: The SLUB TextLab advises and teaches you all the necessary knowledge and skills, for example regarding the markup with TEI-XML, the evaluation of data with xQuery and the tools used for this purpose (among others the XML editor Oxygen and the XML database eXist) as well as the publishing tool TEI Publisher based on it.
Learning and researching together
The collaborative work of a group of researchers and volunteer colleagues who have taken on the task of transcribing and digitising the Gemein-Nachrichten of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine (Moravian Brethren Church ) shows how diverse collaboration on the digital research projects in the SLUB TextLab can be. In the SLUBlog we give an insight into the joint work.
