Citizen science enables all people to engage in scientific activities outside of academia. All you need are your own questions and curiosity. Bring your topics to us - we will give you sources, advice, space for your projects as well as opportunities for networking and collaboration on joint projects.

Link between research and society

Research is not just for scientists at universities and colleges: In many fields, the scientific process benefits from the active and often passionate involvement of volunteer researchers. On the other hand, citizen scientists have the chance to gain deep insights into "their" subject area and to actively shape research in this field. The SLUB sees itself as a link between research and society - that is why it is close to our hearts to promote your involvement in citizen science. We offer you spaces and opportunities to experiment together and support you in working with modern methods and tools to find reliable scientific answers to your questions.

    The free encyclopedia Wikipedia is probably the best-known project of the so-called Wikiverse. But this offers much more: We introduce Wikidata and Wikisource and show you how you can use the projects in many ways or participate in them yourself.

    Many people wonder who their ancestors were and how they lived. Family research - or genealogy - seeks answers to these questions. Would you also like to go in search of your own roots? At the SLUB Dresden you will find support.

Making your research visible

You can publish the results of your research work free of charge on the Saxon document and publication server Qucosa or on our research blogs. We enter the data produced in this way, for example on places and persons, into higher-level databases such as the Common Index of Names (GND). This makes them available to other researchers as well.
