If your pupils are about to write a subject-specific paper or a 'complex performance' and want to start well prepared, we support teachers in preparing their pupils in the best possible way.

Teaching material: "From the Idea to the Thesis: Introduction to Scientific Work for Pupils".

The online course consists of three modules. All materials for the course are up-to-date and available at www.slubdd.de/facharbeit.

• Part 1: Introduction to the library with the video "SLUB at a glance for pupils", virtual tour of the SLUB Central Library and knowledge test.
• Part 2: Work material "Scientific working techniques"; duration: approx. 120 min / 3 lessons. You can hold the course at your school. Topics covered: Structure of a scientific paper, search and research strategies and selection of reputable sources.
• Part 3: Self-study module "Quoting correctly" on the topic of citing techniques and creating a bibliography

Learning environment - visit the SLUB with your class

Visit the SLUB Dresden with your class. Use the guide from the online course for a self-guided tour of the SLUB. We are happy to reserve our group study rooms for your visit in advance. For this reason, please register your visit with us in advance: tour@slub-dresden.de.

Pupils can during their visit

• collect their SLUBcard (prerequisite: prior registration has already been completed & under 16s need consent from their parent/guardian)
• conduct research on public PCs or mobile devices
• borrow media

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer guided tours and workshops for school classes.

Courses for teachers

Our aim is to enable you to experience and get to know the SLUB independently with your pupils. To this end, attend the course that will make you fit to use the SLUB; regardless of whether you are a SLUB beginner or already know the SLUB. The course includes a tour of the Central Library with stops at important stations such as the service desk, textbook collection and group rooms, tips on user registration and a brief presentation of the above-mentioned teaching materials. If required, we will refresh your research skills and look around the SLUB catalogue.
