The Saxon State Library - Dresden State and University Library (SLUB) has a vacancy for a

Technician (m/f/d) in the Technical Services Department, reference SLUB-2023-33

part-time (30.0 hours/week) up to remuneration group TV-L E 9b, limited until December 2030.

With about 350 employees, the SLUB is one of the largest and most efficient academic libraries in Germany. It is an important innovation and coordination centre in the German library system and a lively social place of scientific exchange. We want to use forward-looking technologies to create knowledge, network it transparently and make it available at low cost. In doing so, we are committed to our extensive heritage spanning six centuries.

Planning has begun for a comprehensive technical refurbishment of our Central Library building, which was built according to a highly acclaimed design by Ortner & Ortner and which we were able to move into in 2002.

In this context, the planning for interim storage of a large part of the media currently stored in the Central Library is being carried out in parallel. For this purpose, several interim locations are being prepared in the city of Dresden. Support us in the planning for these interim locations and their constructional implementation with their technical interfaces to the Central Library in in-house coordination, in cooperation with the client's representation and with specialist planners.

 

Your tasks:

  • Representation of the interests of the department managing the building and support, in particular, of the technical interfaces during construction planning and execution as well as during subsequent operation.
  • Commissioning, parameterisation and troubleshooting of the building automation technology, HVAC, electrical and hazard alarm technology still to be installed at the site and across sites
  • Participation in the commissioning of technical building systems and transfer of these systems into regular operation
  • If necessary, user-specific technical coordination with the State Enterprise Saxon Real Estate and Construction Management, the responsible planners and construction companies of the technical trades with a focus on the interim accommodation of stacks and associated functions
  • Close, cross-interface cooperation with employees of the Building and Technical Services departments of the SLUB Dresden and with the State Enterprise Saxon Real Estate and Construction Management
  • Preparation of rule-compliant tender documents for technical procurements for the interim locations from the funds of the funding agency in accordance with RLBau Sachsen - edition 2018, status 2021; participation in relevant awarding of contracts, commissioning and project execution.

 

You bring with you:

  • Successfully completed studies in a technical supply field (heating/ventilation/sanitation/air conditioning), electrical engineering or safety engineering, or a technician's or master craftsman's degree in one of these fields.
  • Several years of professional experience in the operation, planning and/or project execution of supply engineering, electrical engineering or safety engineering plants and systems or in technical facility management.
  • Analytical understanding and the ability to solve complex tasks
  • Communication and team skills, reliability and service orientation
  • Practice-oriented, systematic approach, especially in technical tasks
  • Willingness to take on responsibility and responsibility as well as the willingness to act independently and pragmatically
  • Good knowledge in the use of current MS Office programs as well as knowledge of special CAD and/or building automation user programs
  • experience in the preparation of specifications and participation in award procedures
  • Knowledge of engineering, construction and public procurement law (VOL, VOB and HOAI) is desirable.
  • Class B driving licence
